Our Summer Staff 2010 (More to come!)

Zach

Zach Boor
Zach is a native Coloradoan, who grew up along the Front Range. He harbors a great love for the outdoors, and really enjoys hiking, fishing, biking snowboarding, and camping. He is currently an Undergraduate at Colorado State University studying to be a Biology teacher. Along with his ambitions to become a science teacher, he also has a passion for coaching. He worked first as a camp counselor at the Jeffco Outdoor Lab. He really likes to interact with kids of all ages, and working outdoors is a dream come true. This will be his first summer at the Mountain Day Camp, and he is really excited about it!

Elea

Elea Bosque-Oliva
Eléa grew splitting time between California & the south of France, where her father is from. Her parents sparked a love for being outdoors in her at a very young age by sending her to camps and taking her backpacking all over the world. She lived for many years in Lake Tahoe where she went to college to became a teacher, & where she fine-tuned her outdoor survival skills. Eléa is an avid backpacker & feels most comfortable being on a trail amongst the trees. She enjoys spending her free-time exploring the mountains, kayaking with her dog Cora, writing, painting, and listening to music at home. She is excited to lead backpacking programs for campers at Mountain Day Camp and Altogether Outdoors this summer.

AlyAly Drewyor
Aly Drewyor is excited to be back for her second summer at MDC! Aly grew up playing in the woods of NW Ohio. She graduated from Bowling Green State University where she received a BA in Recreation (outdoor focus) and a minor in Psychology. She enjoys connecting with children, and really appreciates the differences each have as well as the personalities each bring to the group. Aly has worked at Summer camps in Pennsylvania and Ohio. She has worked extensively over the past several years with children, who have ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome. When not at MDC Aly enjoys hiking, camping, photography, climbing trees, attending live music, and making people smile.

DerekDerek Grubaugh

Derek is a native to the shores of Lake Erie, in Cleveland, Ohio. He is an avid outdoorsman with much experience in Nature. He spent many summers at Ligonier Camp in Pennsylvania and also 21 years at a camp in Ohio. Derek is currently working on his undergrad at the University of Colorado, Boulder majoring in Fine Arts. Derek has always been involved with the arts, and trying to represent natural beauty within his work. He is excited about the upcoming summer, “Camp has always been a part of my life, and summers have always been the season to look forward too, because it means its time for camp!” Derek is known among his friends as the one that gets people excited to go out and try new things.

Ed

Ed Hanam

Ed was born and raised in a New England Town Auburn, Massachusetts. He came to Boulder Colorado in 1982 for a vacation and decided to stay. He loves the spectacular Rocky Mountains he hikes and observes wildlife. He was also a competition barefoot water skier (where he received my nickname. "Backwards Eddie") for 10 years and participated in the junior development program teaching children from the ages of 5 to 18 how to barefoot water ski. He currently works for St Vrain Valley School District during the school year as a school bus driver. He loves his job working with children, providing a safe, fun ride to and from school for the grade school students of the district. He is new to the camp this year and can't wait to start. He is looking forward to driving the camp bus this summer and meeting all of the cool campers.

Mallory

Mallory Hull

Mallory is excited to be part of the MDC summer team! Last summer was full of fun, and she cannot wait for this summer! She has had a busy year since last summer, and feels very lucky for everything that has fallen into place for her. She finished her student teaching experience and received her first teaching position in December for first grade. Even though they are small, they are full of energy and excitement! She grew up in Estes Park and naturally has a love for the mountains! She love all kids of all ages, and is especially excited to get to work with the Junior Leaders again this summer. She graduated from CU-Boulder in May of 2009, with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and an Elementary Education certificate. When she is away from camp and school she enjoys traveling (near and far), scrap booking, hanging out with friends, and going for long runs/hikes.

KikiKiki Malmquist

Kiki is a native Chicagoan and is a recent graduate from CU with a degree in Geography and Atmospheric Sciences. She fell in love with camp at the age of 10 in the North Woods of Wisconsin, where she eventually became a counselor for 4 years. She has always had a passion for nature and the outdoors and loves connecting kids with their natural surroundings. In her free time, Kiki loves to ski, do yoga, hike, camp, read, see live music, and ride her vintage cruiser bike. She is excited for her first summer at Mountain Day Camp!
