Dear Mountain Day Camp,

Just wanted to let you know again what a wonderful session these last 2 weeks have been. Meghan learned a ton, came home tired, dirty and happy! What more could I ask for? Please let Karin know Meghan enjoyed her very much.
Thanks again,
Rich and Lori, parents of Meghan (10)"

"Hi Mountain Day Camp Staff –
Just wanted to let you know that Kyra LOVES camp!  She’s having a fantastic time and, when she was invited to go to play with a friend in the afternoon this week, she said, no way – I don’t want to miss a minute of Mountain Day Camp! Looks like lots of fun – you and your staff are doing such a great job.  Thanks so much!"
Laura, mother of Kyra (11) and Luka (7)

"Hi Tommy!
I just wanted to express my sincere thanks for a great job you and your staff are doing at MDC! Chris is having a great time and has really gotten to make and do some cool things. In case I don't have the opportunity to thank you in person, please know that we appreciate all you've done and will plan on Chris attending MDC again next summer! Thanks again!"
-Shannon, mother of Chris (11)

"The camp counselors at MDC are some of the most professional and best trained that I’ve experienced in the area. When we started our first season of MDC last summer, each counselor was careful to introduce him or herself to me and my children with a big smile and firm handshake. Moreover, it’s evident that the team really enjoys what they do – they have a great time leading and joining the campers in activities throughout the day. I always felt my children were safe and in good hands with counselors who pay close attention."
-Juliette, mother of Gusty (7) and Margaux (5)

"I WISH we were going to be in Boulder this summer. The whole experience was so fantastic for Liam and all of us. He surprises us all the time with some fact from camp. In fact, during one walk along a river, my husband starting telling the kids about the water cycle and Liam piped up, "Oh, I know the water cycle" and he started singing The Water Cycle Boogie that you taught last summer. He is devoted to his water bottle and drinking healthy water. He just absorbed so much and had such a great time. We really can't thank you enough. The way you structured his program, with the goals, gave us so much confidence in his ability to be part of the group. He transitioned so well into his new school and class and I really believe a large part of that was the confidence he developed in camp."
-Ann, mother of Liam (6)

"Hi Tommy,
I want you to know Anna is having the best time and she loves every single day. At home we also see improvements in her eating and her desire to communicate she never stops talking and she is so tired at the end of the day just how it should be!"
- Ene, mother of Anna and Taisia (12 year old twins)

The following series of letters were received from one camp parent. Her daughter attended two Mountain Day Camp sessions, building up her stamina for a stay at Cheley Camps in Colorado, a 26-day overnight program.

Dear Mountain Day Camp staff,
I am so pleased that she is doing so well, she just loves it.  This is a HUGE accomplishment on your part, because she has never, ever liked any Parks/Rec camp or Y camp that she has ever been in.  You guys must be doing something right...which gives me great hope that she will make it at Cheley next month! Thanks so much for everything!
Mary

This copy of the second letter was sent to Cheley Camps of Colorado. Mountain Day Camp’s Director, Tommy Feldman, worked at Cheley for 10 years.

Dear Cheley Camps,

AnnieLaurie is going to do another two weeks with Tommy Feldman...he is obviously doing something right, and it is great prep for Cheley for her, as she is a tough cookie to please. She has already gained so much self-confidence, and every night she talks about packing for Cheley. In Steamboat this past weekend, she did a very difficult hike (thanks to her special hiking stick that she made in MDC...), she never would have had the confidence to do that before. I think she wants to "show-up" Nicholas, because she feels that she has gotten special "Cheley training" from Tommy and his staff. All is well in Camp world with my kids, thanks to you and the extended Cheley Family!
Mary

Final letter is from Mary after her daughter, Annie Laurie, started her first session at Cheley:

Dear Mountain Day Camp Staff,

Annie Laurie wanted me to tell you and Karin and Tim and the other staff hello... She is especially proud that she brought her "magic hiking stick" and Mountain Day Camp water bottle with her. So, you are on her (our) pedestal - if you ever need anything from me, please let me know and I am happy to help. Thanks for all that you do, you have made a huge difference in AnnieLaurie's world.

Best,
Mary, mother of AnnieLaurie (11)

"Tommy,
I just wanted to write a note to you about an experience I had with my son Baillie, age 4 1/2, who attended your camp for two sessions this summer. He can be up and down emotionally and sometimes it’s hard to get him talking about his feelings. About a month ago (this is two months after camp), he started saying to me, “Mommy, I just feel a little cloudy today.” And, later, after a fun afternoon, 'Mommy, I feel much sunnier now!' I asked him, 'Where did you learn to talk about how you are feeling and compare it to the weather?' He said 'Mountain Day Camp.'

It is important to me that he learned this from you all. Comparing emotions to weather is an abstract thing to teach four/five year olds, I imagine, and yet it seems so easy for him to express. AND, he remembers this MONTHS after he went to camp. This shows that it made a significant impact on him. We talk about his 'weather' often now, and it makes it much easier to discuss how he’s feeling. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to teach our kids more than just the activities you have planned for the day. This is what a camp should really be about and what makes your camp really stand out. You’re providing something more than the day to day – you’re sharing a dialogue to help our children grow. Thank you. We’ll be back!!!"

Anne, mother of Charlie (6), Baillie (4 ½), and Allie (3 ½)

"We feel Mountain Day Camp has set a new high standard for summer and seasonal day camps in Boulder County. We also wanted to say something about the fact that when they come home with dirt everywhere and a smile on their faces, we love it even more."
--Wade & Patty Metzler from Lafayette, CO, Rachael & Weston's parents

"I really love your camp because you are just back to the basics of summer. My camper plays outside and has fun every day!"
--Ricki from Boulder, CO, Daisy & Charley's mom

Its so nice to have a place to send your kids during the day where you know they're having fun, they're playing outdoors and they're safe.
--Wendy James mom of Avery (11)

Mountain Day Camp and the staff are highly trained and qualified to accommodate our daughter. As our daughter has special needs, many local camps simply were not equipped to deal with issues of peanut allergies, behavioral matters and concerns, and the like. Mountain Day Camp and staff kept us in constant communication and we loved the photographs of the campers available on the web! We could actually see our daughter interacting with others, smiling and enjoying her day. Mountain Day Camp is a wonderful experience for children with or without special needs. The staff constantly keep campers busy with activities and exploring the great outdoors, which was an important factor in choosing a camp for our child.
--Caryl from Broomfield, CO, mom of Rachael (13)

"Tommy –

I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how good a job you are doing with Mountain Day Camp.  The kids come home dirty and happy, evidence of a good day at play.  Importantly, though, you do a great job with the organization of the day camp.  The communication to the parents is excellent, with understandable schedules, clear emails, an effective website, personal notes from the camp counselors, and even the certainty you provide by meeting the parents when the bus is late.  The immediate presence of the photos on the web gives parents a window into the activities of their children (though I’ve now misplaced my password).  I have to say that you really do a great job running the business side of things … better than I’ve seen in a long time.

Keep up the great work.  I look forward to seeing Evan come home dirty and happy in August!"

Eric Savage, father of Evan (10)

“I just registered Nils and Elsa for session 2 this summer. They loved the camp so much last year they have been very insistent on doing it again this year!”
